Princeton, Cleveland advance in NCHSAA Volleyball playoffs

Both Princeton and Cleveland swept to victories Thursday in the second round of the NCHSAA Volleyball playoffs.

Princeton (18-6) defended home court against Martin County, 3-0, in the 2A bracket while Cleveland went on the road to push past Gray’s Creek, 3-0, in the 4A tournament.

We’re going to find out about that old adage about it being tough to beat a team three times in the same season, since Midway won home and away against Princeton this year.

Meanwhile, Chapel Hill also owns a win over Cleveland this season. It was a 2-1 decision (25-20, 23-25, 15-12) in a tournament back in September.

Both third-round matches are set for Saturday.
