So, those leagues that hadn’t already adjusted their tournament schedules to account for our looming winter fun are doing so now.
Carolina 1A
The Neuse Charter School boys knocked off Rosewood to reach round two of the Carolina 1A Basketball Tournament, and a date with top-seeded Lakewood tonight.
The ladies had a first-round bye and will also play Lakewood this evening over at North Duplin.

Princeton clipped Spring Creek in the opening round on the men’s side to earn a matchup against top-seeded Eastern Wayne tonight;
North Johnston dropped a 54-46 decision at Beddingfield last night to wrap up its season..
As for the ladies, North Johnston can exact some revenge for its fellow athletes against Beddingfield tonight in round two after receiving a first-round bye.
It was Beddingfield that eliminated Princeton in round one.
Quad County 3A
South Johnston’s boys took down Fike last night in the opening round and will take on No. 1 East Wake tonight. West Johnston and Smithfield-Selma both lost in round one to Hunt and East Wake, respectively.
On the ladies’ side, West Johnston took down South Johnston to earn a game against No. 2 C.B. Aycock. Smithfield-Selma fell to the top overall seed, Fike.
Greater neuse river 4a
In the boys’ bracket, Southeast Raleigh knocked off Cleveland, 67-59, in round one. Corinth Holders fell to Garner in the opening round, but Clayton advanced to round two with a 74-58 win over Fuquay-Varina.
The Comets meet South Garner tonight at 7:30 at Garner High.
On the ladies’ side of the ledger, Corinth Holders earned a spot in the semifinals with a 79-69 win over Clayton. The Pirates will meet South Garner tonight at 6 at Southeast Raleigh High School.
Cleveland’s tournament run ended with a 58-53 loss to Willow Spring.
