My pal Jay Poole sent this over last week, but because I am a noted slacker, I’m just now remembering to post it. Anyway…

Seth Scott is heading to Methodist to play baseball, where he plans to major in business. He was a three-time, all-conference selection for the Panthers on the diamond while also playing varsity football.

“First, I would like to thank my Lord and Savior for giving me the ability to play this sport I love and to be able to take this talent to the next level,” he said in a release. “Next, I would like to thank my parents for all the sleepless nights and all the mentoring that they put in for me to be at the level I am today. I would also like to thank all the coaches and teammates I have had along this journey that have shaped me to the player I am today. Lastly, I would like to thank Methodist University for the opportunity to live my dreams and play at the next level.”

Samantha Johnson is taking her talents to Barton College for cheerleading, where she plans to major in criminal justice with an eye on becoming a state trooper.

“I choose Barton College because of the small tight-knit community and I can experience college life while being less than 30 mins from my family,” she said in a release. “While attending a cheer clinic my junior year, I immediately fell in love with the atmosphere.”

In addition to cheerleading, she was a four-year softball letter winner.

“First off, I would like to thank my family! You guys have always had my back, especially when things got tough,” she said. “You believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself, and that’s everything. Big shout-outs for always being there!

“Rhian, Mikylie, Raylee and Reed, y’all are the best! Thanks for being the ultimate ride-or-dies and for all the amazing memories. I love y’all. To everyone who brought the laughs, the support and the good vibes, you guys were the highlight reel of my high school years. To the peace club: thanks for being the best crew a person could ask for. Always Remember: #PEACE!”

Gavin Mielcarek is planning on continuing his gridiron career at Barton, where he intends to study business administration and sport management.

He was an honorable mention all-conference choice while also wrestling and competing in track and field.

“I would like to thank  all my coaches for their dedication and time to make me the football player I am today,” he said. “I also want to thank my teammates for making my past four football seasons a fun and wild adventure, keeping me on my toes everyday, as well as my late coach Craig Faircloth. I also want to thank the North Johnston community for supporting me and my team always keeping the stands full home or away through wins and losses. Thank you coach Cam Avery and Chip Holster for giving me this amazing opportunity.”
