We figured a few things out in Johnston County High School Football in Week 10, and sadly not all of those revelations were positive.

Cleveland held off a second-half rally to edge Garner, 29-28. This result left the Rams’ perfect season intact and set up a battle of unbeatens at home against Clayton this week.
The Comets streaked past Willow Spring, 35-7, to move to 9-0 for the second time since the turn of the century.
Should be fun.
Rounding out the Greater Neuse River 4A, Corinth Holders lost a hard-fought battle with Southeast Raleigh, 27-21. The Pirates appear to be in decent shape for a postseason bid, even with a tough game against Garner left on the schedule.
the quad quagmire
Unfortunately for both South and West Johnston, narrow Quad County 3A losses to East Wake and Hunt, respectively, have significantly dimmed the playoff prospects for both schools.
At this moment, our friends at High School OT ($) have West projected as a 25 seed and South Johnston is one of the last teams in at No. 31.
Those two rivals meet this week, and I’m a little concerned that there won’t be a spot in the bracket for the loser. We’ll look at it more closely later this week to be sure.
Smithfield-Selma was the latest victim for C.B. Aycock, falling to the Falcons, 49-12.
the fight for second
Eastern Wayne claimed the Neuse 6 crown with a 22-6 win over North Johnston. Technically, the Warriors and Princeton can finish with one conference loss, but EW owns a head-to-head tiebreaker.
The Bulldogs moved to 5-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play with a 49-12 win over Beddingfield. That sets the stage for some more high Johnston County drama in Week 11.
Princeton hosts North this week, and as of this morning, it holds the 31 seed in the projected 2A bracket. North Johnston is projected as the 21 seed.
I need to look closer, but the winner is definitely in. The loser, especially if it’s Princeton, will be sweating it out on selection Saturday on Nov. 9.
the patriot report
American Leadership Academy fell to 6-2 with a 27-13 loss at Wake Prep last time out. The Patriots were already scheduled to visit South Lenoir on Friday, and have apparently added a game at Northern Durham on Nov. 8.
