The JoCo Sports Game of the Week, presented by Gowan Roofing, is headed to Four Oaks for the regular season finale Friday night, and it could very well be a win-and-in, lose-and-out playoff scenario for South and West Johnston.

At the moment, our friends from High School OT ($) have South Johnston as the 26th team in the 32-team field while their neighbors down Raleigh Road are slotted in one spot behind them at 27.

Now, the winner of this game is certainly in, and might even bump up a few seeds with a sixth win. The loser will be sweating on the bubble Saturday morning with a 5-5 record. Just for fun, you might want to keep an eye on Southern Lee, West Carteret, Croatan, Orange, Dixon, Lee County, East Wake, South Central and South Brunswick.

That’s too many possible outcomes for this space, so Al Davis’ mantra is the best advice here:

Just win, baby.

Princeton is in a three-way tie atop the Neuse Six with Eastern Wayne and Beddingfield, having split games with those two teams. All of them will be favored Friday night with Princeton playing at North Johnston, Eastern Wayne hosting Goldsboro and Beddingfield visiting Spring Creek.

If that tie holds, Princeton should have the best RPI, which is the tiebreaker for that scenario. That would make them the league’s top qualifier for postseason purposes, and is currently projected as a No. 7 seed.

North Johnston, on the other hand, is currently the first team out of the 2A East bracket. It’s not impossible for the Panthers to get in with a loss, but it is improbable. A win over their county rivals would assure them of a place on the dance floor come Saturday afternoon.

Sounds spicy.

You may have heard that Clayton and Cleveland are playing this week. Both teams are eying the Greater Neuse River 4A crown and the high playoff seed that comes with it.

Right now, Cleveland is projected to win the game and wind up as a No. 3 overall seed while the Comets are slotted in at No. 11.

Should Clayton win, however, it would likely wind up with a slightly higher seed than the Rams. Both are likely to host first-round games in early November, but both will be looking to end the season on a high note.

Corinth Holders can only look to spoil Garner’s playoff seeding, as even a win won’t be enough to get the Pirates an at-large berth.
