No. 9 South Johnston 4, No. 8 Scotland 3, 9 innings — Randi Deese drove in three runs and notched the win from the circle as South Johnston fought past the Scots in extra innings.

No. 5 South View 3, No. 12 West Johnston 0 — Jordynn Parnell pitched a complete-game shutout, striking out 18, as the Tigers advanced in the NCHSAA 6A Softball playoffs.

No. 9 Clayton 10, No. 24 Pine Forest 0 (5 innings) — The Comets breezed into the round two, running their record to 16-4 overall.

Second round (Friday)

No. 8 Wake Forest 6, No. 9 Clayton 5 — Laila Gibson and Delaney Maynard drove in two runs each for Clayton, which ends its season at 16-5.

No. 4 Cleveland 12, No. 13 Riverside 0 — Cleveland exploded for six runs in the fourth to down the Pirates in five innings.
