Week 7 provided a bit of clarity for our Johnston County high school football programs. Sadly, not of of that news was positive.

We’re in the home stretch in terms of playoff positioning, and as you’ll see below, some of our squads are in better shape than others.

Bunn 41, american Leadership Academy 15

Josiah Rice threw for 199 yards and three touchdown passes as Bunn (4-2, 1-0) pulled away from American Leadership Academy for a Quad County 2A/3A/4A victory.

Anthony Jimenez rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown for the Patriots (4-3, 0-2).

Wallace-Rose Hill 49, princeton 16

Wallace-Rose Hill (3-3, 2-0) exploded for 28 second-quarter points in a Swine Valley 2A/3A win. Teo McPhatter rushed for 109 yards and a score for the Bulldogs (3-3, 0-2).

north johnston 28, washington 14

Kaleb Pone passed for 186 yards and two touchdowns as North Johnston (4-3, 1-2) notched its first Three Rivers 4A win. The senior quarterback added 101 rushing yards and two more touchdowns as well.

The Pam Pack fell to 0-6 overall, and 0-2 in league play.

south johnston 45, southern lee 7

Holt Langston rushed for 234 yards and three touchdowns as South Johnston (3-3, 1-2) romped past Southern Lee (0-5, 0-2).

Kenny Forsythe was 5-for-6 for 92 yards and a score for the Trojans.

west johnston 16, triton 7

West Johnston got 73 yards from Chrystian Cokley as the Wildcats (2-4, 1-2) ground out a 16-7 win over Triton.

Case Holland added a touchdown pass and 143 yards in the victory.

garner 71, smithfield-selma 0

Garner started with a 35-point first quarter and never looked back in a rout of Smithfield-Selma (1-6, 0-3).

cleveland 43, fuquay-varina 0

Owen Hulbert was 10-for-13 for 183 yards and a score as Cleveland improved to 6-0 overall, and 2-0 in the Greater Neuse River 7A with a win over the Bengals (3-4, 0-3).

Porter Bennett ran for two touchdowns while Crishard Pettaway, Maddox Borden and Hulbert added rushing touchdowns.

southeast raleigh 22, clayton 19

Southeast Raleigh (5-2, 2-1) picked off a pass late in the fourth quarter to preserve a narrow conference win.

Aiden Smalls passed for 184 yards and two scores for the Comets, who fell to 5-2 overall, and 2-1 in Greater Neuse River 7A play.

corinth holders 36, wakefield 0

The Pirates improved to 3-3 overall, and 1-2 in CAP 8 play, with a shutout victory over Wakefield.
