We’re a couple of weeks in to the fall season, and even though you wouldn’t always know it here, there are sports other than football being played in Johnston County.

One of those is volleyball, and it’s high time we took a look around the local scene:

Cap 8A

Leesville Road is off to a perfect start so far this season, but Broughton is right there with a 3-0 league mark. Corinth Holders is in the middle of the pack with a 1-2 start to the Cap 8A slate.

Greater Neuse River 7A

Cleveland is off to a flying start, with a 9-1 overall record and a spotless 3-0 conference mark. Clayton is in a three-way tie with Garner and Fuquay-Varina at 2-1 overall, while Smithfield-Selma is alone in fifth at 2-2 in league play.

Carolina Pines 6A

Union Pines is the cream of the crop in the Carolina Pines 6A so far this season, while West Johnston and South Johnston are both off to a 1-3 league start.

Three Rivers 4A

North Johnston and North Lenoir are at the head of the pack in the Three Rivers 4A at this early point in the league slate. The two aren’t scheduled to meet until Sept. 17.

Swine valley 2A/3A

Midway and Wallace-Rose Hill are atop the conference standings. Princeton is alone in fourth with a 2-2 mark.

Quad County 2A/3A/4A

As you can see, it’s a little early in the Quad County schedule to draw a ton of conclusions. Wake Prep, however, is off to a 9-0 start for the campaign.

Diamond Nine 1A/2A/3A

Roxboro Community School shines brightest in the Diamond Nine so far this season, while Neuse Charter is alone in fourth place at 4-2 in conference play.
