We’re closing in on (or already at) the halfway point in the conference schedules for the Johnston County softball teams, and a few are off to fast starts.

North Johnston, Cleveland and Corinth Holders all reside in first place as March draws to a close, and they’ll be looking to still be there when April winds up.

Here’s how it all looks this morning:

Midway is off to a flying start this season with a spotless 9-0 overall record. The Raiders also hold a one-game lead over Wallace-Rose Hill and James Kenan — while Princeton and Rosewood are locked in a battle for fourth.

North Johnston has grabbed the early lead in the race for the Three Rivers 4A crown – and both games with second-place North Lenoir don’t happen until next month.

Carolina Pines 6A

With the first pass through league play in the books, Union Pines and Triton are showing the way in the Carolina Pines. South Johnston, which has already played the front running Vikings twice, and West Johnston will be looking to make up some ground in the second half of the slate.

Cleveland and Clayton hold the top spots in the GNR 7A, and the first of two scheduled meetings between the rivals is set for Monday on Polenta Road.

A one-run loss to West Johnston on March 11 is all that separates the Pirates from perfection in 2026. Since that loss, Corinth Holders has outscored its opposition, 89-7, in six wins.
