As it turns out, a few Clayton players picked up a few gifts when the Greater Neuse River 7A football honors were released. I’m still looking for a full list of conference honors, as they’ve been trickling out here and there, but for now, let’s talk about the Comets:

North Johnston is hosting a holiday tournament this week, and the hosts have earned spots in both final games.
Women
North Johnston 53, West Bladen 14 — The hosts breezed into the final of the women’s bracket for the Capital Auto/ KW Locksmith Holiday Invitational Basketball Tournament with a win over West Bladen.
North (9-0) will face South Granville, a 54-47 winner over Havelock, in tonight’s final at 6.
Men
North Johnston 65. Raleigh Charter 24 — Kaleb Pone led the way with 14 and Josh Leonard added 10 as the Panthers (4-5) advanced to the final of the Capital Auto/ KW Locksmith Holiday Invitational Basketball Tournament.
The hosts will face Havelock, a 60-50 winner over South Granville on Monday, at 7:30 tonight.
