Lannah Price drilled a home run over the centerfield fence to power South Johnston to a 1-0, eight-inning win over West Carteret Friday night in the NCHSAA 3A Softball playoffs.

KENLY — Emma Grace Hill pitched a complete-game shutout, narrowly outdueling North’s Victoria Sasser, who also went the distance, allowing five hits while fanning 10. Alyssa Harris drove in the game’s only run with a fourth-inning double.

WILLIAMSTON — Zach Peacock and Tyler Coates combined to twirl a one hitter as North Johnston advanced on the road in the 2A bracket.

Coates and Seth Scott had two hits each while Reid Willoughby drove in a pair of runs for the Panthers (19-7).
