Week 6 has been an endurance challenge for our local teams, with games being spread across Thursday, Friday and (hopefully) today.
The bag is, shall we say, mixed. Let’s open it, shall we?

Thursday
Clayton 43, Smithfield-Selma 7 — Clayton and SSS waited out the weather and got their game in on Thursday night.
Clayton improves to 5-1 overall, and 2-0 in the Greater Neuse River 7A. The Spartans fall to 1-5, and 0-2 in league play.
Friday
Cleveland 42, South Garner 28 — Cleveland used a 21-point third quarter to pull away from a game South Garner squad. Owen Hulbert passed for 230 yards and a score, while Kaleb Ferrell and Porter Bennett combined for 134 rushing yards and five touchdowns for the Rams (5-0, 1-0 GNR 7A).
South Garner falls to 3-3, and 1-1 in conference play.
North Pitt 40, North Johnston 24 — North Pitt exploded for 20 points in the third quarter to break open a 14-14 game and take down North Johnston in Three Rivers 4A play.
Kaleb Pone rushed for 104 yards and a score and passed for another in the defeat for the Panthers (3-3, 0-2).
American Leadership Academy 41, Jordan-Matthews 6 — Anthony Jimenez rushed for 228 yards and a score as the Patriots got back on the winning track at Jordan Matthews.
Ian Wands added a couple of touchdown passes for the Patriots (4-2, 0-1 Quad County 2A/3A/4A).
Lee County 10, West Johnston 7 — Lee County intercepted a pass deep in its own territory to hold off upset-minded West Johnston, 10-7. Case Patton threw a scoring pass to Chris Pitino for the only tally for the Wildcats (2-4, 0-2 Carolina Pines 6A).
Broughton 38, Corinth Holders 0 — Broughton built a 24-0 halftime lead and never looked back in an emphatic win over Corinth Holders (2-3, 0-2 Cap 8A).
Monday
Union Pines 15, South Johnston 0 — Union Pines ran its win streak to three games with a 15-0 win at South Johnston on Monday.
The Vikings used a pair of first-half touchdowns and three second-half interceptions to secure the win. South Johnston is now 2-3 overall, and 0-2 in the Carolina Pines 6A.
Princeton is idle this week.
