The Pirates fell to 1-14 overall, and 0-6 in league play.

Greater Neuse River 7A

Tuesday, Jan. 13

Clayton 70, Garner 66
Cleveland 65, Smithfield-Selma 45

Clayton evened its league record at 2-2 while handing the Trojans their first Greater Neuse River 7A loss. Cleveland earned its first conference win at the expense of Smithfield-Selma, which is still in search of one (5-8, 0-5).

West Johnston 57, Southern Lee 50
Western Harnett 45, South Johnston 36

West Johnston (10-4) kept pace with Harnett Central and Lee County at 4-1 in league play, while South Johnston fell to 2-9 overall and 0-5 in conference play.

Eastern Wayne 63, North Johnston 52

The Panthers (4-10, 0-4) are right back at it tonight for a non conference tilt at Beddingfield.

Swine valley 2A/3A

Goldsboro 74, Princeton 37

Goldsboro stayed perfect in league play, while Princeton fell to 6-10 overall, and 1-3 in the Swine Valley.

quad county 2a/3a/4a

American Leadership Academy (6-5) kicks off conference play Friday night at home against Bunn.

carolina 1A

Neuse Charter 90, East Wake Academy 55

The Cougars improved to 7-6 overall, and 3-4 in league play. This puts them in a tie for fourth place with Roxboro Community.

The Pirates (14-1, 5-1) are in a three-way tie with Wakefield and Broughton — having defeated the former and losing to the latter. Should be quite the race in the second half of the league slate.

Garner 73, Clayton 53
Cleveland 71, Smithfield-Selma 4

Cleveland stayed a half-game ahead of Garner in the standings while Clayton (6-6, 1-3) and Smithfield-Selma (1-12, 0-5) lost ground.

Southern Lee 37, West Johnston 24
Western Harnett 55, South Johnston 47

South Johnston (6-6, 1-4) returns to action at Smithfield-Selma today, while West Johnston (8-5, 4-1) hosts first-place Western Harnett (9-3, 5-0) on Friday.

The Panthers moved to 12-2 overall, and 3-1 in league play (tied for second with North Pitt).
