Thanks to recent development at the Major League Baseball Draft, recent Corinth Holders graduate Briggs McKenzie is facing one of most pleasant decisions an athlete can encounter.

The Braves selected McKenzie with the 127th overall pick Monday after a senior year in which he allowed only four runs on 25 hits in 69.1 innings while striking out 138.

So, does he sign with the Braves, or honor his commitment to play for the reigning national champions, LSU?

His stats were reason enough to garner him draft interest, but considering the 6-2 left hander already has a fastball that lives in the low 90s and two plus off-speed pitches, he’s viewed to have the sort of ceiling that gets high schoolers picked as high as he was.

Internet chatter suggests the Braves saved some slot money for just this sort of thing. We’ll see, but it’s a decision that must be made by the end of the month, and it’s a doozy.
