HOLLY SPRINGS —Corinth Holders fell just short of a state championship Saturday, dropping a pair of games to Providence in the best-of-three 8A State Championship Baseball Series.

The Pirates finish the campaign at 23-8.

Game 1

Corinth Holders tied it with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh and scored the winning run in the eighth to claim a 4-3 win in Game 1 on Friday.

Eli Cash and Tripp Johnston each drove in a pair for the Pirates in the victory.

Game 2

Braxton Thompson scattered four hits and struck out eight in a complete-game shutout for Providence in a 6-0 win on Saturday.

Game 3

Providence scored all three of its runs in a pivotal fifth to take a 3-2 win in the deciding Game 3 on Saturday. Our friends at HighSchoolOT were there, and filed this story.
