Brody Massengill steps down as South Johnston’s boys’ basketball coach

After 15 years in the program, including the last eight as head coach, Brody Massengill has stepped down as the leader of the South Johnston boys’ basketball team.

He leaves with an overall mark of 103-100 after the Trojans posted a 9-15 mark last season.

“I would like to thank South Johnston High School for giving me the opportunity to coach the men’s basketball program for many years,” he said in a Facebook post made by the school’s athletic department. “I have been able to coach high character student athletes that I will treasure the memories and relationships for the rest of my life. I have also been blessed with great assistant coaches over the years that have worked extremely hard to make our program the best it could be. I also feel extremely blessed to have coached in the South Johnston community that has always shown tremendous support for our teams. I feel confident our program is in a great place and can’t wait to see our teams have continued success.”

Massengill will continue to serve as an assistant principal at the school.
