We had two leftover games from Friday’s Week 5 slate, and as Tuesday morning dawned in JoCo, we still have one of those left to finish.

American Leadership Academy fell at home to East Carteret Monday, 24-12, despite 129 rushing yards and a score from Cam Thaxton and a 67-yard punt return for a score from Nysiere Chrisp.

The Patriots fell to 1-3 and will back back in action Friday at home against Wayne Christian.

WCTI has a short highlight clip up, if you’re interested. They had a different score, but we’re going with the one in MaxPreps.

Meanwhile, South Johnston and Harnett Central are having a Trojan war that rivals the one we all read about in school. A game scheduled for Friday was moved to Monday. It began as scheduled, with Harnett Central grabbing a 12-0 lead. Then the lights went out on the field house end of the stadium for a while (I started watching Monday Night Football and lost track). Eventually, more September lightning arrived with Harnett Central leading, 18-6, in the fourth quarter.

That game (we hope) is set to finish tonight at 5.
